Keith Oelschlager was born and raised in Denver, Colorado and loved art from the time he was a young child. While other kids were off playing sports and video games, he could often be found in his makeshift bedroom studio drawing everything from dinosaurs to superheroes. He went to college and studied graphic design, and subsequently found his calling as a high school drawing and painting instructor, which he has been doing for the last 20 years. He worked on his craft continuously during this time, always with the goal of becoming a professional fine artist.
Keith found his style through a combination of influences. Most notably graphic novels, movies, and Golden Age illustration. He finds that the masters of the past can be an unbelievable inspiration and source of information when seen up close and in person. He travels extensively to study art in collections and museums in order to learn from the best.
Keith's art can be found in numerous private collections around the United States.
His technique is a mixed media style consisting of glazed acrylic paint over india ink underdrawing. He finds inspiration in the beautiful and unique cities of the world including Paris, London, New Orleans, and New York among others. He will continue to challenge himself to find the beauty in the often overlooked backdrop of our everyday lives.
